MY WISH FOR MY NEIGHBOR’S FOUNDATION
By: Samantha Wisnom
Hereford High School, Grade 12
If I were given $5,000 to support education in my local community, I would donate the money to
the nonprofit organization, My Neighbor’s Foundation. My Neighbor’s Foundation (MNF) is a
group of caring neighbors within northern Baltimore County whose goal is to provide resources and
support to children who cannot afford education expenses, such as lunches, testing fees, and college
applications. MNF provides support to all of the schools in my area: my school, Hereford High, Hereford Middle, and Fifth District, Seventh District, Prettyboy, and Sparks Elementary Schools. Many students in the Hereford community really need help with things like field trips, school supplies, and other extracurricular activities, and it’s sad to think that a lack of money is the only thing stopping them from taking full advantage of what education has to offer. My community holds several fundraisers throughout the year for the funding of this very special organization, and a donation of $5,000 would be a true blessing. Local residents are the trustees and school representatives serve on MNF’s advisory board, so I know the money would be spent wisely and specifically for those students in my community who truly need help and support. For more information on this nonprofit organization, you may visit the website: www.myneighborsfoundationorg.
THANK YOU! Holiday Letter 2011
On behalf of My Neighbors Foundation we would like to wish you and your family a wonderful Holiday Season.
This past year, we have helped over 400 students. As MNF enters our 5th year, our goal is to continue to reach every student in need. Our presence in the schools and community is growing, which will help us continue our mission.
As you know, My Neighbors Foundation has had a very busy year. This year we had more fundraising events. We began the year with our annual Elvis Show in April. It was once again a sell-out, raising $2,200. In September, we added our newest event, a Shred-it Day, which was very successful. We raised over $3,000!
We have scheduled a second Shred-it Day for Saturday, April 21st, 2012 so mark your calendars! We started October with our annual Exxon Kick-off weekend, with the Hereford Exxon donating $2,200 in proceeds from the sales of gas to MNF. This year we also hosted our 4th annual Crab and Bull Roast and had to add a 2nd date to accommodate all of our guests. Together we raised over $9,000. In November, we had our 2nd annual Wagon Wheel Breakfast for Dinner in which we served close to 500 people. This event raised $3,100. Wow, what a great year!
My Neighbors Foundation would like to thank you for your support.
We are able to continue our mission because of neighbors like you. Our goal for 2012 is to reach every child in need. If you know of a family in Hereford that is facing an economic hardship that could use our services for their children’s school needs please contact us.
Best Wishes for a Happy & Healthy New Year!
Sincerely,
My Neighbors Foundation
