My Neighbors Foundation

Mr. Hawks is a resident of the Hereford Zone and has served as Senior Warden at a local church. He is currently the Chairman of the Board at a local School. Through a series of events, Mr. Hawks came to know the situations of some of the families in northern Baltimore County and the impact that had on their children. His focus was to understand that there are few worse feeling a child can have than feeling excluded and unable to participate with their peers. Mr. Hawks’ goal is to build an organization that can help these children fully participate with their friends and school mates. He feels that this is the “old way” where families are willing to accept some of the responsibilities for others with whom they live. My Neighbors Foundation provides services that are at the heart of Community.

Laura Hudson

Board Member

Laura Hudson is the school counselor at Sparks Elementary School. Laura grew up in Cleveland, Ohio where she graduated from Orange High School and Bowling Green State University (majoring in Elementary Education). After accepting a job in Baltimore County, Laura taught first and second grade at Deep Creek Elementary, in Essex. Upon completion of her Masters Degree at Johns Hopkins in School Counseling, Laura worked at Martin Boulevard Elementary, Grey Manor Elementary, Harford Hills Elementary, Essex Elementary, and Sparks where she has been the counselor for sixteen years.

Laura and her husband, Tom, live in Freeland, Maryland on a small farm where they raise Sicilian Miniature Donkeys. Erin, their daughter, attended Prettyboy Elementary, Hereford Middle, Hereford High, and Elon University in North Carolina and currently lives in Washington, D.C. Laura and Tom have been involved with My Neighbors Foundation since it was formed by John Hawks in January 2007.
